Kevin De Bruyne Asserts Manchester City's Premier League Title Race Is Still Open

Kevin De Bruyne has emphasised that Manchester City players remain focused on the Premier League title race, despite being in a favourable position with just one game remaining. The Citizens secured a 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Tuesday, allowing them to overtake Arsenal at the top of the table. City will face West Ham in their final match, and as long as they match Arsenal's result against Everton, they will clinch a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

De Bruyne dismissed suggestions that City celebrated prematurely following their win. "We were happy, obviously, because it gets us in the place that we wanted to be on Sunday," he told Sky Sports. "I didn't feel like there were any extra celebrations. Obviously, you're happy to win the game, but we know it's not done yet."

Manchester City's official Twitter account shared a post celebrating the team's performance. De Bruyne acknowledged the external expectations but remained cautious about the challenges ahead. "I know everybody's talking now saying it should be easy, but we're used to playing these couple of games against Brighton and Villa before and it's never easy," he said. "There's always the pressure of being in that situation, so I think it's quite normal."

City's triumph over Tottenham has made them strong favourites to win the title, with the Opta supercomputer giving them an 84.3 per cent chance of lifting the Premier League trophy once more. During their victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, sections of the crowd celebrated Erling Haaland's opener by performing the Poznan, a celebration often associated with City fans, as the result shifted the title race away from their North London rivals.

When asked if he had ever played in such an environment before, De Bruyne remarked: "I think it's strange, but I didn't feel it from a player's perspective. I have to say I thought Tottenham were really good; I think they played better than they did in previous weeks."

De Bruyne also commented on the role of fans in such high-stakes matches. "Fans are always a different thing, but I feel it's more feeding from outside," he said. "I never thought that from the players' or coaches' perspective, they would not come and give their best. That's the only thing we worry about."

As Manchester City prepares for their final match against West Ham, all eyes will be on whether they can maintain their lead and secure another Premier League title under Pep Guardiola's leadership.
