Leicester City Sacks Willie Kirk Over Conduct Breach, Seeks New Women’s Team Manager
Leicester City Football Club has recently announced the termination of Willie Kirk's contract as the manager of LCFC Women. This decision comes after Kirk, aged 45, was found to have violated the team's code of conduct in a manner that rendered his position as manager unsustainable. The club had previously disclosed that Kirk was involved in an internal process and would not be present on the touchline for the FA Cup quarter-final on March 9, following a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Women's Super League on March 3.
In the interim, Jennifer Foster, Kirk's assistant, together with first-team coach Stephen Kirby, took charge of the team, leading them to a 2-0 victory in the aforementioned quarter-final. They have continued to lead the team since then and will remain in their positions until a new permanent manager is appointed.

The club's statement highlighted that following a thorough internal disciplinary procedure and with respect to privacy obligations, it was concluded that Kirk had breached the team's code of conduct significantly. This code of conduct was established at the beginning of the current season as part of Leicester City's commitment to professionalising the women's game. This initiative began with the takeover of LCFC Women in 2020 and aims to promote a culture focused on performance among players, coaches, and technical staff.
As Leicester City embarks on the search for a new permanent manager for LCFC Women, Foster and Kirby will continue to fulfill first-team responsibilities. The club's dedication to advancing the professional landscape of women's football remains steadfast, as evidenced by their ongoing efforts to uphold high standards of conduct and performance within their teams.
