Leeds United Crush Norwich City 4-0 To Book Wembley Final Appearance
Leeds United secured their place in the Championship play-off final with a commanding 4-0 victory over Norwich City in the second leg of their semi-final. Following a goalless draw in the first leg, Leeds delivered an impressive performance at Elland Road on Thursday, thrilling their home supporters and booking a spot at Wembley on May 26.
Ilia Gruev calmed the nerves of the Elland Road crowd early on, scoring just seven minutes into the match. Gruev's long-range free-kick caught Norwich goalkeeper Angus Gunn off guard, curling into the net as Gunn anticipated a cross. Joel Piroe extended Leeds' lead 13 minutes later, heading home from Wilfried Gnonto's cross after another error from Gunn.

The match was effectively decided five minutes before half-time when Georginio Rutter connected with Crysencio Summerville's pass, firing the ball off the underside of the crossbar and into the net. In the second half, after Gunn failed to hold onto Gnonto's low shot, Rutter set up Summerville to score Leeds' fourth goal, securing their place in next Sunday's final against either Southampton or West Brom.

Leeds United's attack appeared lacklustre in the first leg at Carrow Road but was anything but on home turf. The team dominated Norwich City, achieving their 21st Championship clean sheet of the season—more than any other team in the league.
Daniel Farke's squad produced an expected goals (xG) figure of 2.45 compared to Norwich's 0.51. Summerville's goal brought his tally to 20 league goals for the season, making him Leeds' top scorer.
| Team | Goals | xG | Clean Sheets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leeds United | 4 | 2.45 | 21 |
| Norwich City | 0 | 0.51 | - |
The victory sets up an exciting final at Wembley, where Leeds will face either Southampton or West Brom. The team's performance at Elland Road has given them significant momentum heading into this crucial match.
