Jonny Evans Commits To Manchester United With One-Year Contract Extension
Jonny Evans has committed to Manchester United for another year, signing a contract extension until the end of next season. Evans, who emerged from United's academy and initially played for the first team from 2006 to 2015, rejoined last year to provide cover for Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, and Victor Lindelof.
Due to injuries affecting Maguire, Varane, Martinez, and Lindelof during the 2023-24 season, Evans found himself playing a more significant role than anticipated. The 36-year-old made 30 appearances across all competitions. He even came off the bench in May's FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

Evans has now secured every domestic trophy with United. His accolades include three Premier League titles and two EFL Cups from his first stint with the club. His experience adds substantial value to the dressing room.
Speaking to Manchester United's website after signing his extension, Evans expressed his joy: "I am delighted to have extended my contract at Manchester United for another season. To play for this great club and feel the support from our incredible fans is always a privilege."
He continued: "Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates under an excellent manager. Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead."
Evans' return last year was initially intended as cover for key defenders. However, due to their injury struggles, he became a crucial part of the squad as they finished eighth in the Premier League.
The veteran defender's contribution was vital during a challenging season for United's backline. His presence provided stability and leadership on and off the pitch.
