Jesse Marsch Denies Interest In USA Role, Pledges Commitment To Canada
Jesse Marsch has dismissed any rumours linking him to the United States men's national team, affirming his dedication to Canada. The former Leeds United manager is currently preparing Canada for their third-place play-off against Uruguay in the Copa America on Sunday. Canada's next match will be against the USA in September, sparking speculation that Marsch might have influenced this fixture.
Marsch, however, firmly denied any connections to the USA coaching role, from which Gregg Berhalter was recently dismissed following a disappointing Copa performance on home soil. "I'm not leaving this job," Marsch stated. "I have no interest in the U.S. job. And to be fair, unless there's a big shift in the organisation, I don't think that I'll ever have an interest in that job in the future."

The 50-year-old coach expressed his contentment with his current position. "I'm really happy here. I couldn't be happier, actually, in terms of what it's like to work with the leaders in this organisation and what it's like to work with this team," he added.

Marsch has previously criticised the USA for their treatment of him during their search for a new manager in 2022. After the 2022 World Cup and Berhalter's contract expiration, Marsch was considered a top candidate for the role. However, Berhalter was unexpectedly rehired shortly after.
Marsch felt he wasn't treated well during discussions over the managerial vacancy at that time. Despite this setback, Marsch has found success with Canada, leading them to the semi-finals at the Copa America while the USA was eliminated in the group stages.
Canada's upcoming match against Uruguay will determine their final standing in this year's Copa America. The team's progress under Marsch's leadership has been notable, contrasting sharply with the USA's recent struggles.
Marsch's focus remains on building a strong team and achieving success with Canada. His commitment to his current role is evident as he continues to lead Canada through international competitions.
The Canadian squad's journey continues as they prepare for their next challenge against Uruguay and look ahead to future fixtures.
