Harry Kane Eyes England Triumph Over Golden Boot In Euro 2024 Final

Harry Kane is focused on helping England win their first international trophy since 1966 as they prepare to face Spain in the Euro 2024 final. The match, set for Sunday in Berlin, follows England's semi-final victory over the Netherlands, secured by Ollie Watkins' late goal. Kane equalised from the penalty spot in Dortmund, marking his third goal of the tournament and setting a record as the top scorer in knockout games at the European Championships with six goals.

Kane is currently tied with five other players for the Golden Boot, including Spain's Dani Olmo. Olmo has an advantage due to his two assists along with three goals for Luis de la Fuente's team. Other players with three goals include Cody Gakpo, Georges Mikautadze, Jamal Musiala, and Ivan Schranz, though they have all been eliminated from the competition.

Kane Focuses on England Win

The England captain emphasises that winning the Golden Boot would be a bonus but insists that his main focus is on lifting the Henri Delaunay Cup. "Ultimately, when you come this far in a tournament, you're not thinking about the golden boot," Kane said. "You're thinking about winning the championship and that's all that matters."

Kane has yet to win a major trophy in his professional career despite coming close several times. During his tenure at Tottenham Hotspur, he earned three runners-up medals, including one from the Champions League final against Liverpool in 2019. His move to Bayern Munich was expected to end this drought, but a loss in the DFL-Supercup and a third-place finish in the Bundesliga left Bayern without a trophy for the first time in 11 years.

In international play, Kane led England to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and to the Euro 2020 final, where they lost to Italy on penalties at Wembley. The defeat against Italy serves as extra motivation for Kane and his teammates as they aim to end England's 58-year wait for an international title.

"Everyone wants to achieve the same goal," Kane concluded. "And whether you play one minute or you play every minute, if we win it, we're all going to celebrate together and we're all going to be extremely happy."

Team Effort

Kane stresses that individual accolades are secondary to team success. He stated that scoring on Sunday would be great but emphasised that any player scoring would be just as satisfying if it leads to victory. "So, of course, as a striker I'd love to score on Sunday but if someone else scores and we win, I'm not going to be disappointed," he said.

The upcoming final presents an opportunity for Kane and England to make history by securing their first major international trophy since their World Cup triumph in 1966. The anticipation builds as fans await Sunday's showdown against Spain.
