Harry Kane Ready For Euro 2024 After Back Injury, Confirms Southgate
Gareth Southgate has confirmed that England captain Harry Kane will be fully fit for Euro 2024. Kane's back injury, which had sidelined him in recent weeks, has now cleared up. Concerns arose when Kane missed Bayern Munich's final two Bundesliga games, returning to England for treatment.
Kane had an outstanding individual campaign in 2023-24, scoring 44 goals in all competitions. This achievement made him the top scorer among players from Europe's top five leagues. Despite his impressive performance, Kane is still waiting for his first major trophy. England hopes to secure that victory in Germany this July, and Southgate is confident that Kane will be in peak condition for the tournament.

"Kane is pretty much clear now. He is quite relaxed about it. I think a sensible decision was taken not to push for the last game there," Southgate said. "Back problems can just happen, but it is not something we are concerned about at this moment in time. Our understanding of it is that it is something that is pretty much clear now."
In the UEFA Champions League this season, Kane has been directly involved in 11 goals (eight goals and three assists), setting a record for an English player in a single campaign. This statistic underscores his reliability and importance to both his club and country.
Kane has also been prolific in major international tournaments, scoring 12 goals across the last three events. He netted six goals at the 2018 World Cup, four at Euro 2020, and two at the 2022 World Cup. Kylian Mbappe is the only other European player to match this tally.
Despite his incredible goal-scoring feats, Kane has yet to win silverware with Bayern Munich. Southgate acknowledges that this might be a point of criticism but believes Kane's determination remains unwavering.
"It won't be nice for him, and I am sure he will be aware of what people will say about that," Southgate commented on Kane's lack of trophies with Bayern. "But his love for this challenge and desire to make this work has never wavered, and he is definitely looking forward to this tournament."
Southgate added, "He has delivered what we thought he would deliver in terms of goals in that league, and I know the club are super happy with what he has done."
