Harry Kane: England's Unparalleled Talent Poised For Euro 2024 Final Glory
Harry Kane is England's greatest player and a definite starter for Sunday's Euro 2024 final against Spain, according to former Three Lions defender Gary Neville. Despite criticism of his performance levels during the tournament, Kane has scored three goals, including a crucial penalty in the semi-final win over the Netherlands.
Neville emphasised Kane's importance by noting his record-breaking nine knockout-stage goals at World Cups or European Championships, the most by any European player. "I spoke to Wayne Rooney four or five weeks ago before the tournament started and he said Harry Kane is the greatest England player ever," Neville told Sky Sports News. "I wouldn't fight to disagree with him."

Kane's contributions have been pivotal, yet some suggest Gareth Southgate should consider other options. Ollie Watkins replaced Kane and scored a last-minute winner against the Netherlands. Ivan Toney also made an impact by converting a no-look penalty in the quarter-finals against Switzerland.
Neville believes dropping Kane would send a negative message to the squad. "He's very clearly their leader and Southgate has full, total faith in him," Neville stated. He added that opposition teams view Kane as England's talisman due to his impressive goal-scoring record in Germany this year.
Kane could become the first England captain to lift a major trophy on foreign soil if they win on Sunday. Additionally, he is in contention for the Golden Boot, currently tied with Dani Olmo on three goals but trailing due to Olmo's two assists.
"Harry Kane has been absolutely sensational," Neville continued. "I always called him gold when he was at Tottenham; you just know full well that he's going to deliver for you."
Performance Concerns
Despite his achievements, there are concerns about Kane's form during this tournament. "I think he's obviously below his best in this tournament," Neville noted. "It does look like he is carrying something, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it emerged in a week or two that he's had issues during the tournament with something that he's trying to bandage up."
Neville concluded by highlighting Kane's resilience and reliability: "You look at that record now and some of the greatest goalscorers of all time are on that list."
As England prepares for Sunday's final, all eyes will be on Harry Kane to see if he can lead his team to victory once again.
