La Liga Futures U-14 Tournament To Kick Off In Saudi Arabia In A Historic First

For the first time in its history, the La Liga FC Futures U-14 tournament, a prominent youth football competition featuring academies from top-tier Spanish clubs, will take place in Saudi Arabia. The event, scheduled to start on March 1, signifies a remarkable moment for football enthusiasts in the region.

The tournament is set to unfold at the Mahd Sports Academy in Riyadh, showcasing the talents of players under the age of 14 in 11-a-side matches. This initiative is a collaborative effort with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Sports, reflecting the Kingdom's growing stature as a global sports and cultural destination. Among the participants are 12 clubs, including eight EA Sports La Liga teams, alongside international clubs AS Roma, SL Benfica, Olympique de Marseille, and the host nation's Mahd Academy.

La Liga has seen a significant following in Saudi Arabia, with football being the most popular sport, especially among the youth. The Kingdom now boasts six official La Liga supporter clubs, a testament to the league's enduring appeal over the last 15 years.

Competition Format and Schedule

The competition will see the 12 teams divided into three groups. Group A comprises Mahd Academy, FC Barcelona, AS Roma, and Cadiz CF. Group B features Atletico de Madrid, Olympique de Marseille, Sevilla FC, and Villarreal CF. Lastly, Group C includes Real Betis, Valencia CF, SL Benfica, and CA Osasuna.

The matches are set to commence on March 1 at 9:30 am (Saudi Arabia time) and will continue on March 2 at 10 am. The tournament progresses with the quarterfinals on Saturday at 5 p.m., followed by the semifinals at 10 am on Sunday. The culmination of this youth football spectacle will be the final match, scheduled for 5 pm on the same day.
