Everton To Explore New Ownership Paths As 777 Partners Takeover Fails
Everton Football Club is currently evaluating all potential options for its ownership following the collapse of a proposed takeover by 777 Partners. The majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, had agreed to sell his 94 per cent stake in the club to the US-based consortium last September. However, the Premier League did not approve the takeover.
The deal faced multiple delays as 777 Partners struggled to meet the Premier League's ownership conditions. Despite these setbacks, the consortium provided financial support to Everton for several months. The club experienced an eight-point deduction in the 2023-24 season due to breaches of the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules but still managed to finish 14 points clear of relegation.

With the deal now off the table, Moshiri is actively seeking alternative buyers. Last month, Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor expressed interest in investing in Everton. The club released a statement acknowledging the expiration of the agreement with 777 Partners and expressed gratitude for their financial support over recent months.
The statement from Everton read: "The agreement between 777 Partners and Blue Heaven Holdings Limited for the sale and purchase of the majority shareholding in the club expired today. The board of directors recognises the considerable level of financial support 777 Partners has provided the club over recent months and would like to take this opportunity to thank them for this."
Everton's board of directors assured fans that the club would continue its operations as usual while working with Blue Heaven Holdings to explore all future ownership options. The board also thanked everyone connected to Everton for their patience during this period and committed to providing further updates through official communication channels when appropriate.
As Everton navigates this transitional phase, the search for new investors remains a priority. The club aims to secure a stable and prosperous future under new ownership, ensuring continued success on and off the pitch.
