Everton Supporters Voice Concerns Over Delayed Takeover Bid

Everton supporters are currently seeking definitive answers regarding the ongoing takeover saga that has seemingly left their beloved club in a state of uncertainty. The Toffees Fan Advisory Board (FAB) has reached out to the current owner, Farhad Moshiri, the prospective new owners, 777 Partners, and the Premier League, demanding clarity on the future of the club. This comes after the takeover process, initially agreed upon last September, appears to have hit a standstill.

Dave Kelly, the chair of FAB, likened the situation to a prolonged VAR decision in football, emphasizing the limbo state that fans, players, and the club itself find themselves in. The board's letter to Moshiri highlighted concerns over what would happen if the Premier League does not approve the 777 deal, questioned whether there is a time limit on Moshiri's agreement with 777 Partners, and sought assurance on whether Moshiri will continue to support the club financially until a suitable investor is found.

Everton Takeover Concerns Rise

The letter also pointed out the current leadership vacuum at Everton, with an interim board and CEO in place and an owner who is not actively involved. This situation is deemed unacceptable given the sporting and financial uncertainties facing the club.

In their communication with 777 Partners co-founder Josh Wander, FAB expressed worries about the investment firm's capacity and commitment to stabilizing and elevating Everton Football Club. They urged Wander to engage with supporters and provide reassurance about their vision and strategy for the club's future.

The FAB also sought clarification from Premier League chief executive Richard Masters on whether the league has the authority to reject a takeover bid outright or if such processes are indefinitely extendable until all required documentation is submitted.

Adding to Everton's challenges are recent penalties imposed by the Premier League for breaches of profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) up to the 2021-22 season. The club has been docked six points this season and faces further sanctions following a second complaint for the period ending June 30, 2023. An independent commission is set to conclude its hearing on this second complaint soon, with a decision expected within seven days of the hearing's conclusion.

The FAB has requested responses from Moshiri, 777 Partners, and Masters by Friday, hoping for some much-needed clarity on these pressing issues. Everton's fans are eagerly awaiting these responses, hoping for positive news that will allow their club to move forward from this period of uncertainty.
