Euro 2024 Group F Ignites: Historic Feats By Guler, Ronaldo, And Pepe

The first matchdays of each group at Euro 2024 have concluded, with Group F delivering memorable moments. Turkiye and Georgia kicked off the action in Dortmund, followed by Portugal's victory over Czechia in Leipzig. Both matches saw records being broken, with Arda Guler and Cristiano Ronaldo making history.

In Turkiye's 3-1 win over Georgia, Kenan Yildiz (19 years, 45 days) and Arda Guler (19 years, 114 days) became the second pair of teenagers to start a European Championship match for their nation. The first instance was Hungary against Denmark in 1964.

Euro 2024: Guler, Ronaldo Make History

Guler, previously on the fringes at Real Madrid, showcased his potential with a record-breaking strike. He became the youngest player to score on their debut at the tournament and the third teenager to do so, following Ronaldo in 2004 and Ferenc Bene in 1964.

Additionally, Guler created five chances in the game, matching records set by Wayne Rooney in 2004 and Pedri in 2021. His performance was complemented by Mert Muldur's volley and Kerem Akturkoglu's goal.

Georgia's Georges Mikautadze scored their first goal at a major tournament. Turkiye secured their first Euros opener win after losing their previous five. They have now won four of six encounters with Georgia.

Portugal 2-1 Czechia: Ronaldo and Pepe Set Records

Portugal's match against Czechia saw Pepe (41 years, 113 days) and Ronaldo (39 years, 134 days) become the oldest outfield players to appear at the Euros. Pepe led defensively with 11 possessions won.

Ronaldo made history by featuring in six different editions of the European Championship finals. Although he didn't score, his header led to Diogo Jota's disallowed goal due to offside.

Lukas Provod opened the scoring for Czechia with a long-range strike, marking the 11th goal from outside the box at Euro 2024. Portugal dominated possession with 368 completed passes in the first half but went into halftime goalless.

Nuno Mendes' header forced an own goal from Robin Hranac, equalising for Portugal. Vitinha's cross set up Mendes' header, contributing to his tally of 20 line-breaking passes.

Francisco Conceicao became Portugal's hero by scoring just 111 seconds after coming off the bench, becoming the first Portuguese substitute to score at the Euros since Eder in the 2016 final.
