Fernandez Set For Chelsea US Tour After Apology; No Issues Expected

Enzo Maresca does not anticipate any issues within Chelsea's camp when Enzo Fernandez joins the squad in the United States. Fernandez is set to link up with Chelsea's team for their pre-season tour on Monday.

Fernandez recently issued a public apology after sharing a video of Argentina's squad singing a song with lyrics that questioned the heritage of some French players. Chelsea has initiated disciplinary proceedings, but Maresca believes there will be no problems when Fernandez, a high-profile signing from Benfica in 2023, returns to the squad.

"It is quite easy in terms of the player [making] a statement to apologise. The club did the same, so I don't think there is something to add in terms of the situation. It is already clear and clarified," Maresca said.

Chelsea will face Wrexham on Wednesday before playing against Celtic, Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid during their U.S. tour. Their final pre-season game will be a home friendly against Inter.

Maresca emphasised that all individuals involved are human beings and do not have bad intentions. "They are all human beings. I don't think there are any bad intentions from any of them," he stated.

"I don't think when Enzo is back that we will have any situations. Enzo clarified the situation, so there is nothing to add. They are not bad persons or human beings. It can happen but I don't think there are any problems at all," Maresca added.
