Emma Hayes Lauds USA Women For Clinical Win In Debut Against South Korea
Emma Hayes praised the efficiency and clinical performance of the USA Women’s team, who secured a commanding 4-0 victory over South Korea in her debut match as head coach. The former Chelsea manager began her tenure with the Stars and Stripes on a high note, with Mallory Swanson and Tierna Davidson each scoring twice at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
Hayes, who left Chelsea last month after a successful 12-year tenure that concluded with a fifth consecutive Women’s Super League title, officially commenced her new role with the US Women’s national team in Colorado this week. She is already witnessing positive developments within the squad.

"You can see we're building something," Hayes told ESPN. "There’s lots of work to do. There are lots of holes in our play, no question, but it was a good start. I get to enjoy these players. I just feel re-energised, and I want to coach this group, and they want to be coached."
Hayes highlighted the importance of technical execution in the first 30 minutes of the game. Despite some initial struggles, the team capitalised on their first three chances, showcasing their efficiency and clinical edge.
"In terms of what I asked from the group, what we prepared for, the execution of that, we’ve made steps in the right direction," Hayes added.
The victory marks a promising start for Hayes as she embarks on her new journey with the US Women’s national team. Her experience and tactical acumen are expected to bring further success to a team already renowned for its prowess on the international stage.
As Hayes continues to integrate her philosophy and strategies into the squad, fans and analysts alike will be keenly observing how the team evolves under her leadership.
