David Raya's Permanent Transfer To Arsenal Confirmed After Golden Glove Season
David Raya has officially joined Arsenal on a permanent basis after a successful loan spell from Brentford in the 2023-24 season. Last year, Arsenal secured Raya on a season-long loan, paying a £3 million fee and agreeing to a £27 million option to make the move permanent.
Raya managed to edge out Aaron Ramsdale for the starting goalkeeper position. He kept 16 clean sheets, helping Mikel Arteta's team finish as Premier League runners-up. This achievement earned him the competition's Golden Glove award.

Everton's Jordan Pickford was the only other goalkeeper to keep more than 10 clean sheets, with 13 to his name. Despite his success, Raya conceded 24 goals from 20.93 expected goals on target (xGoT) faced.
The Spaniard expressed his excitement about the permanent move in an interview with Arsenal's website. "After a year on loan as a Gunner, I can finally say that I'm an Arsenal player for the coming years," he said. "I'm excited to see what the future holds but always living in and enjoying the present."
Raya also thanked fans for their support over the past year. "It's a dream come true to be here and I want to thank you for all the support you have already given me throughout the last year," he added.

The confirmation of Raya's long-term contract marks an important step for both him and Arsenal. His performance last season demonstrated his capabilities and potential value to the team moving forward.
This move solidifies Arsenal’s goalkeeping options and provides stability at the back as they aim for further success in upcoming seasons.
