Czechia Ready To Face Turkiye At Euro 2024 Despite Schick's Uncertain Status

Czechia head coach Ivan Hasek is confident his team can cope without Patrik Schick in their crucial final group game against Turkiye on Tuesday. Schick, who recently became Czechia's top scorer at the European Championships with his goal against Georgia, is doubtful for the match after limping off shortly after scoring.

Schick has been under the care of physios and doctors for the past two days, according to Hasek. "He wasn't training. He's getting better, but we will see tomorrow," Hasek said. "Schick is a key player, one of the best scorers in Europe. But if he's not able to play, we need to replace him. And we have players who are able to replace him and they are ready and been working hard," added Hasek.

Czechia Braces for Turkiye Without Schick

After drawing their first two group games, Czechia must end their three-game winless streak against Turkiye on Tuesday to advance to the last-16 of Euro 2024. Turkiye has won both previous European Championship matches against Czechia, with both encounters occurring in the final group game.

Hasek mentioned that there is a positive energy within the team ahead of their match at Volksparkstadion. "Some of the players have not played yet, not got that many opportunities and we want to win for them, mostly so that their chances of getting on the pitch and playing here remains," he said.

"I really have great trust in my team, they play as one man and I think we will show that on the pitch," Hasek expressed his confidence in his squad's unity and performance capabilities.

The Czech team knows they must secure a win to progress further in the tournament. The stakes are high as they face Turkiye, a team that has historically had an upper hand over them in European Championships.

With Schick's participation still uncertain, Hasek's belief in his team's depth will be tested. The coach remains optimistic about their chances despite the potential absence of their star striker.

The upcoming match at Volksparkstadion promises to be a decisive moment for Czechia as they aim to break their winless run and secure a spot in the knockout stages of Euro 2024.
