Craig Bellamy Appointed Acting Head Coach At Burnley After Kompany Leaves

Craig Bellamy has been appointed as acting head coach at Burnley following Vincent Kompany's unexpected move to Bayern Munich. Kompany, who took over the Clarets in June 2022, was unable to keep Burnley in the Premier League, with the team being relegated after a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham in their penultimate match of the season.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that Kompany would be replacing Thomas Tuchel as Bayern head coach on a three-year deal. Burnley has now announced that Bellamy will take on the role of acting head coach while they search for a permanent manager. Mike Jackson will serve as his assistant coach.

The Welshman was rumoured to be joining Kompany in Bavaria but is now in the running to become the new Burnley manager. Frank Lampard and Scott Parker are also reportedly linked to the job.

"Following the departure of Vincent Kompany, we are actively working on our search for a permanent manager. In the meantime, the Club has placed Craig Bellamy, assisted by Mike Jackson, in the roles of Acting Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach. We have complete faith in Craig," Burnley FC stated on their official Twitter account.

Burnley's immediate focus will be on stabilising the team and preparing for the upcoming season under Bellamy's guidance. The club aims to make a swift return to the Premier League and will be looking for a manager who can lead them back to top-flight football.

The appointment of Bellamy comes at a crucial time for Burnley as they navigate through this transitional phase. The club's management is expected to expedite their search for a permanent head coach to ensure continuity and stability within the team.

As Burnley prepares for life in the Championship, fans will be keenly watching how Bellamy and Jackson manage the squad and what changes they might implement to improve performance. The upcoming season will be pivotal for Burnley as they aim to bounce back from relegation.

Burnley's next steps will involve assessing potential candidates for the permanent managerial position while supporting Bellamy and Jackson in their interim roles. The club's leadership is committed to finding a suitable replacement who can build on Kompany's efforts and guide Burnley back to success.
