Chelsea FC Announces Pochettino's Departure: Jackson And Palmer Share Tributes
Nicolas Jackson has raised questions about Chelsea's decision to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino, while Cole Palmer expressed gratitude towards the Argentine coach. On Tuesday, Chelsea announced that Pochettino had left the club by mutual consent after just one season, which concluded with a sixth-place finish in the Premier League.
Several pundits were taken aback by the decision, especially after Chelsea's performance improved significantly, securing European qualification. In the 2023-24 Premier League season, Chelsea had an expected goals (xG) figure of 75.3, surpassed only by Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Newcastle United. Additionally, Chelsea recorded 215 shots on target, trailing only City, Liverpool, and Arsenal.

From March 11 onwards, Chelsea accumulated 27 points, a tally only bettered by eventual champions Manchester City, who garnered 28 points in the same period. The departure of Pochettino has left several Chelsea players surprised, with Jackson being notably vocal on social media.
Jackson shared his sentiments on Instagram alongside a photo with Pochettino. "Love you coach. Wish we could stay together more. But may God continue to bless you and your family. Thanks for the advice and support; you're a true lion and a fighter. Wish you all the best," Jackson wrote.
Leading goalscorer Palmer also paid tribute to Pochettino in his Instagram post. "Gaffer, thank you for everything you have done for me and making my dreams come true," wrote the England international. "All the best."
Former Blues captain John Terry expressed his disappointment over Pochettino's exit on his Instagram story. "I just hope we don't sign or sell any players until we get a manager in," Terry posted.
Potential Successors
Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna and Brentford's Thomas Frank have been mentioned as potential successors. Co-owner Todd Boehly is reportedly seeking to hire a young coach who can work within Chelsea's existing structure.
