Catarina Macario's Debut Goal Propels Chelsea Into FA Cup Semi-Finals

Substitute Catarina Macario made a significant impact by scoring three minutes after coming on in the second half, propelling Chelsea to a 1-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup quarter-finals at Walton Hall Park. The United States international, who joined Chelsea last summer while recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, continued to impress by finding the net on her debut during last week's Women's Super League victory against Leicester.

Chelsea's manager, Emma Hayes, made six changes to the lineup from Thursday's Conti Cup semi-final win over Manchester City. Despite these adjustments, Chelsea struggled to break the deadlock in a tense first half. Their closest attempt came from Nathalie Bjorn, whose header hit the crossbar before she was substituted due to injury, replaced by Niamh Charles in the 14th minute.

Macario Sends Chelsea to FA Cup Semis

Everton had opportunities of their own, with Kathrine Kuhl forcing a save from Chelsea's goalkeeper Zecira Musovic. However, they were unable to capitalize on a number of set-pieces. Chelsea missed a golden chance to take the lead before halftime when Jelena Cankovic's attempt went wide after some skillful setup by Johanna Kaneryd.

Macario's introduction in the second half proved decisive as she scored in the 66th minute from Aggie Beever-Jones' assist. Everton nearly equalized through Katja Snoeijs but fell short, allowing Chelsea to advance and keep their hopes of achieving a historic quadruple alive. Arsenal is the only English team to have accomplished this feat back in 2007.

As leaders of the WSL, Chelsea awaits their FA Cup semi-final opponents, which will be determined in Tuesday morning's draw. They are also set to face Ajax in their Champions League quarter-final this month and will compete against Arsenal for the Conti Cup on March 31.
