Canada's Ambition Grows After Securing Spot In Copa America Quarter-Finals
Jesse Marsch and his Canada team are not content with their progress despite making it to the Copa America quarter-finals. A goalless draw against a 10-man Chile on Saturday secured their spot in the last eight. Canada finished second in Group A, trailing Argentina, and will now face either Venezuela, Ecuador, or Mexico in the quarters.
Canada became the third team from outside CONMEBOL to reach the knockout stages in their first Copa America appearance, following Mexico (1993) and Honduras (2001). However, former Leeds United manager Marsch insists that they are not done yet. "We are not satisfied. The group is not satisfied. They want to keep going," Marsch said.

"We're excited for this next challenge. I'm challenging them to grow and get better, to be more savvy professionals, more mature players," he added. "I've been incredibly impressed by them, from the first training session. I'm enjoying being their coach."
With a numerical advantage, Canada managed to keep Chile at bay at Inter&Co Stadium. They restricted the two-time Copa America champions to just 0.52 expected goals (xG). This defensive effort was crucial in securing their place in the quarter-finals.
Marsch expressed his pride in the team's accomplishment but reiterated that they are not satisfied yet. "I'm proud of this accomplishment. But again, we're not satisfied," he stated.

The Canadian squad has shown remarkable resilience and determination throughout the tournament. Their ability to adapt and perform under pressure has been a key factor in their success so far.
As they prepare for their next match, Marsch emphasised the importance of self-belief among his players. "They know, no matter who our next opponent is, it will be a difficult match. But they believe in themselves," he said.
Canada's journey in this Copa America has been historic and inspiring. Their performance has captured the attention of football fans worldwide, showcasing their potential on an international stage.
The upcoming quarter-final match will undoubtedly be a significant test for Marsch's team. Regardless of the outcome, Canada's participation in this tournament has already marked a milestone in their football history.
The Canadian team's focus now shifts to preparing for their next opponent as they aim to continue their impressive run in the Copa America.
