Fabian Hurzeler Takes Helm As Brighton's New Head Coach In Premier League

Brighton & Hove Albion have appointed Fabian Hurzeler as their new head coach, the club confirmed on Saturday. Hurzeler, 31, has signed a three-year contract and joins the Amex Stadium after leading St Pauli to the Bundesliga 2 title last season, securing 20 wins out of 34 matches.

Hurzeler's appointment marks a historic moment as he becomes the youngest full-time manager in Premier League history since its inception in 1992. "From the start of the process to appoint our new head coach, Fabian was always a standout candidate," said Chairman Tony Bloom. "His exceptional work at St Pauli over the past eighteen months caught our attention."

Hurzeler Named Brighton Head Coach

Bloom added, "He has a style of play that aligns with how we want a Brighton & Hove Albion team to play, and I'm confident it is one our supporters will appreciate and enjoy. Fabian also has an excellent coaching pedigree and has worked with the German federation at various age group levels. We are really excited to start working with Fabian to prepare for the upcoming season."

Born in February 1993, Hurzeler will be the first manager born after the Premier League began in 1992 to take charge of a club in the competition. This milestone highlights his rapid rise in football management.

Under Roberto De Zerbi's leadership, Brighton achieved significant milestones, including qualifying for European competitions for the first time at the end of the 2022-23 season. Although they finished just inside the bottom half of the Premier League table last season, they reached the last 16 of the Europa League.

Hurzeler aims to build on these solid foundations. "The club has made incredible progress over the last few seasons and the aim is to continue building on that success," Hurzeler stated. "I am relishing the opportunity to coach in the Premier League, and I can't wait to meet the players, staff and, of course, the fans."

Brighton's supporters will be eager to see how Hurzeler's leadership influences their team's performance in both domestic and European competitions. The upcoming season promises to be an intriguing chapter for Brighton & Hove Albion under their new head coach.
