Neil Collins Highlights Barnsley's Lack of Clinical Edge in Shrewsbury Draw
Barnsley's quest for a victory in their League One campaign faced a setback as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Shrewsbury, despite a late penalty conversion by Herbie Kane. The match, which took place at Croud Meadow, saw Barnsley's Neil Collins express his disappointment over his team's inability to capitalize on their chances, attributing part of the blame to an exceptional goalkeeping performance by Shrewsbury's Marko Marosi.
The game kicked off with Shrewsbury taking an early lead seven minutes in, courtesy of a Nicky Cadden own goal. The home team managed to maintain this slender lead until the dying moments of the match when Taylor Perry's foul on Mael De Gevigney in the penalty area allowed Kane to level the scores for Barnsley.

Despite numerous opportunities for both teams, it was Marosi's heroics that stood out, preventing Barnsley from taking more from the game. Collins lauded the goalkeeper's performance, highlighting it as one of the season's best. However, he also pointed out his team's recurring issue of conceding early goals and their need for improvement in finishing.
On the other side, Shrewsbury's manager, Paul Hurst, acknowledged his team's exhaustion and the need for better fitness levels. He praised his players' commitment and effort, which he deemed necessary against any opponent. Hurst also expressed sympathy for Marosi, who he felt deserved a clean sheet after his outstanding performance.
The draw leaves Barnsley in fourth place in League One, five points behind third-placed Bolton, extending their unbeaten away run to eight games. Both managers reflected on their teams' performances and areas for improvement as they look ahead to their next fixtures.
