Arne Slot Ready To Uphold Liverpool's Winning Legacy Post-Klopp
Arne Slot, the new head coach of Liverpool, acknowledges the significant challenge ahead as he steps into the role following Jurgen Klopp's departure. Klopp ended his nine-year tenure with Liverpool last season, leaving behind a legacy of success that includes winning the Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, and Premier League. Slot is aware of the expectations to continue this winning tradition.
Slot expressed his thoughts during a press conference on Friday. "When [Klopp] arrived he said he was the normal one but what made him special is the impression he left behind," said Slot, who previously managed Feyenoord. He added, "Yeah, there are big shoes to fill, but you can also look at it in a way that you inherited a squad that has a winning culture."

Slot views his new role positively, seeing it as an opportunity to work with talented players and achieve success. "As a manager you want to work at a club with good players and an opportunity to win something," he stated. "The past has shown there is a possibility to win some trophies. I look at it as ideal."
He emphasised his dual focus on player development and winning. "I like to work with players, I like to develop them, but I like to win as well, and there's an opportunity at this club to win," Slot noted.
Despite Klopp's legacy, Slot intends to focus on building his own relationships with the players. He explained, "People look at us and think we only think about the tactics board but you have to think about the way you talk to the players." He stressed the importance of understanding each player individually or as part of a team.
"It is not about convincing them; it is part of the job to think about the best way to get the best out of them," Slot said. "I don't have Jurgen Klopp in mind, thinking 'what would he say'. No. I have to get to know the players to get the maximum out of them."
A Special Gesture from Klopp
Slot also expressed gratitude towards Klopp for rallying Anfield fans to sing his name after Klopp's final game in charge. "That was special," Slot remarked. "There are not many managers the fans sing for. They did for me after a few years at Feyenoord but without having worked here, the fans singing is a good start."
The Dutchman appreciates this gesture as it signifies support from both Klopp and Liverpool fans even before starting his tenure officially.
