Introducing Aramco Stadium: A New 47,000 Spectator Venue Set To Host FIFA World Cup 2034

Aramco, a major player in the global energy and sector, has teamed up with real estate giant ROSHN to start building Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar. This new stadium will accommodate 47,000 spectators and is designed to meet international standards for top-tier football events like the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and the FIFA World Cup 2034, which Saudi Arabia aims to host.

Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (Shair and Partners), known as Dar, was tasked with creating and delivering the detailed design for this landmark stadium. The design reflects a vision inspired by the natural environment, resulting in a visually striking structure. Dar also handled the detailed design of the mixed-use masterplan facilities and infrastructure.

Innovative Structural Design

Maffeis Engineering, a sister company of Dar specializing in structural engineering, developed the intricate roof and façade system. This system is not only visually impressive but also structurally unique, showcasing advanced engineering techniques.

In addition to its architectural prowess, Dar formulated a comprehensive sustainability strategy for Aramco Stadium. This strategy aims for LEED and Mostadam certifications, setting high standards for sustainable stadiums in hot climates. It aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, the Saudi Green Initiative, and both local and international regulations.

Sustainability Measures

The sustainability plan includes various measures such as implementing passive and active energy efficiency technologies. These technologies incorporate demand response systems to optimize energy use. Additionally, efforts will be made to reduce water consumption, divert operational waste from landfills, and use eco-friendly materials that are local or recycled.
