Postecoglou Lauds 'Fantastic' Moore For Clinching Tottenham Victory

Ange Postecoglou praised Mikey Moore after the teenager scored a late winner in Tottenham's J-League World Challenge match against Vissel Kobe. The 16-year-old secured a 3-2 victory at Japan National Stadium with his 88th-minute goal, marking Spurs' first game of their preseason tour in the Far East.

Moore, who became Tottenham's youngest Premier League player at 16 years and 277 days, made his senior debut against Manchester City last season. Postecoglou believes the England youth international, who has netted 10 goals in 12 under-17 appearances, deserves his first-team chances.

Moore Wins Praise After Late Goal

"Mikey has been fantastic since we brought him in," Postecoglou said during his post-match press conference. "He's earned his spot on the roster at the moment; he did at the end of last year. He got a run with the first team because we could see in training that he was handling himself really well, and that's followed through into pre-season training."

Postecoglou highlighted Moore's performance, noting that he has been impressive in all games. "He probably should have had three tonight, but he did take his goal well by being in the right areas," he added. "All we can do is keep allowing him to develop."

Tottenham's preseason has been successful so far, with three wins from three matches. They previously defeated Hearts 5-1 and Queens Park Rangers 2-0 before their victory over Vissel Kobe.

"I thought it was a good game," Postecoglou commented. "The conditions did make it difficult for both teams, and we've had a hard week of training. Credit to the boys."

Challenges and Efforts

Postecoglou acknowledged the challenges faced during the match but praised his team's efforts. "I thought we played some decent football, and they put in as much effort as they humanly could out there," he said.

The manager also appreciated the support from fans. "You want to provide some sort of entertainment for the supporters who made a great turnout tonight, not just Spurs supporters, but football supporters in general," he stated.

Future Prospects

Reflecting on Moore's potential and development, Postecoglou emphasised the importance of nurturing young talent. "We have to remember that, last year, he had some injuries, and he is only 16," he noted. "I think the future with a lot of our young guys looks pretty promising."

He stressed that it's crucial for young players to realise their potential and continue working hard on their game. "It's our responsibility to make sure they realise their potential and continue to work hard at their game," Postecoglou concluded.

The positive results from Tottenham's preseason matches indicate a promising start for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
