Andy Robertson Eager To Embrace New Chapter With Arne Slot At Liverpool

Andy Robertson is eager to collaborate with Liverpool's new manager, Arne Slot, and is optimistic about continuing the club's progress from Jurgen Klopp's tenure. Slot officially took over on Saturday after a successful stint at Feyenoord, where he secured the Eredivisie title in 2023 and the KNVB Beker this season. He was also named Manager of the Year twice.

Robertson, who joined Liverpool under Klopp in July 2017, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season despite not having spoken to Slot yet. "I haven't spoken to [Slot] yet," Robertson told Sky Sports while preparing for Scotland's European Championship campaign. "I think he's leaving us to focus on the Euros. It's an exciting new challenge."

Robertson Welcomes Slot Era

Reflecting on Klopp's era, Robertson acknowledged its significance but is keen on embracing the new leadership. "Obviously, the old era was pretty special, and I've got a lot to be thankful for that manager, but excited now by the new manager coming in—new ideas, new voice—and I'm really excited for what can come with that," he said. "I've got no doubts we can keep that momentum going."

Klopp's tenure at Liverpool was marked by significant achievements, including ending the club's 30-year wait for a Premier League title in 2020. Under his guidance, Liverpool also won the Champions League, FA Cup, two EFL Cups, and the Club World Cup. Robertson admitted that living up to Klopp's legacy might be challenging but remains confident in Slot's capabilities.

"The last eight, nine years were pretty special," Robertson noted. "Maybe they're going a bit into the unknown, but it has to be exciting; the squad's in a good place, we had a good season last season." He added that while there was room for improvement, securing a Champions League spot and winning a trophy were positive outcomes.

Robertson believes that Slot will build on the solid foundation left by Klopp and is optimistic about future successes. "The manager will come in, and he'll recruit a really good squad, and I'm sure he'll want to bring in some new faces as well," he said. "We have to go again. We showed for large parts of last season we could challenge for the league and that has to be the aim."

Slot's track record of winning trophies is seen as an asset by Robertson. "The manager has won trophies before, and he'll want that feeling again," he stated. "We've got to be at our best to try and achieve that."

As Liverpool embarks on this new chapter under Slot's leadership, fans and players alike are hopeful for continued success and growth.
