Allegri Shares Regrets Over Juventus' Continued Slump In Serie A

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri expressed his disappointment following a missed opportunity to narrow the gap with second-placed Milan, after a draw with Roma in Sunday's Serie A match. The game, which ended in a stalemate, saw Romelu Lukaku scoring early for Roma, only for Bremer's header to equalize for Juventus before halftime. This result has left Juventus with just two wins out of their last 14 league games, a situation that visibly frustrated Allegri, who was seen leaving the bench in dismay at the final whistle.

During a post-match interview with DAZN, Allegri shared his thoughts, stating, "There are regrets, naturally we could've done better during this period, but football is vicious like that, sometimes it just doesn't go your way." He highlighted a moment in the second half where Juventus risked losing a game they could have won. Despite this setback and four consecutive Serie A draws, Juventus remains six points ahead of fifth-placed Roma and nine points clear of Atalanta in sixth, though Atalanta has two games in hand.

Allegri Discusses Juventus' Slump

With Italy securing five Champions League qualification spots for the next season, Juventus is still in a favorable position to make it back to Europe's top club competition. Additionally, they are set to face Atalanta in the Coppa Italia final on May 15. "The important thing now is to concentrate on the next game, as that is the match point for the Champions League, then we have the Coppa Italia final," Allegri emphasized.

The team's performance this season marks an improvement from their seventh-place finish in 2022-23, which was marred by a 10-point deduction due to an investigation into their financial dealings. Despite these challenges and recent criticisms of Allegri's leadership, he remains focused on the upcoming Coppa Italia final and securing Champions League qualification.

When questioned about his future with Juventus, Allegri responded ambiguously, suggesting that any inquiries should be directed towards the club. He reiterated the importance of focusing on immediate goals: "The important thing is for us to focus on the Coppa Italia final and hopefully, we'll come back here with the Champions League already achieved."

This season has indeed been a rollercoaster for Juventus, with injuries to key players like Paul Pogba, Nicolo Fagioli, and Federico Chiesa affecting their campaign. Yet, Allegri remains hopeful, underlining the solid foundations within the team and their potential for success in both domestic and European competitions.
