Celtic's Alexandro Bernabei Secures Loan Move To Internacional Until 2024
Celtic's Alexandro Bernabei has made a significant move in his football career by returning to South America, this time to join Brazilian outfit Internacional on a loan deal that extends through the remainder of 2024. This transition marks a pivotal moment for the Argentinian left-back, who has struggled to secure a consistent starting position at Celtic Park since his arrival in the summer of 2022.
Internacional, based in Porto Alegre, officially announced the acquisition of Bernabei, highlighting his exceptional speed and technical skills that he previously showcased at Lanús and Celtic. Despite his potential, Bernabei's tenure at Celtic saw him making only 16 starts, with a notable four of those coming after the winter break under Brendan Rodgers. This opportunity arose due to Greg Taylor's absence due to a calf injury.

The 23-year-old's last appearance for Celtic could potentially be his final one if the loan move transitions into a permanent deal. Notably, Bernabei is contracted with Celtic until the summer of 2027. His performance in a match against Kilmarnock, where Celtic conceded a stoppage-time equaliser, might have influenced the decision for his loan move.
In addition to Bernabei's departure, Celtic is also seeing Liel Abada leave, with the player set to complete his move to Major League Soccer side Charlotte. These moves are part of Celtic's recent adjustments to their squad as they navigate through the current football season.
The loan to Internacional offers Bernabei a fresh start and an opportunity to further develop his skills in a familiar environment. It remains to be seen how this stint in Brazil will impact his career trajectory and whether it will lead to more permanent arrangements in the future.
