Zimbabwe Vs Pakistan 1st T20I: Abrar Ahmed And Sufiyan Muqeem Shine In PAK's Dominant Victory

Pakistan secured a decisive 57-run victory over Zimbabwe in the first T20I of their three-match series at Queens Sports Club Ground, Bulawayo. On Sunday, December 1, Pakistan's bowlers dominated by dismissing Zimbabwe for 108 runs in just 15.3 overs after setting a target of 165/4.

After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first under captain Salman Ali Agha. The team focused on giving younger players a chance to shine. Saim Ayub and Usman Khan laid a solid foundation with their contributions at the top of the order.

Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem Star in PAK Win

Ayub scored 24 off 18 balls, while Usman played a crucial role with his 39 off 30 deliveries. Tayyab Tahir and Irfan Khan added finishing touches with unbeaten scores of 39 and 27 respectively, helping Pakistan reach a competitive total.

Zimbabwe's bowling attack struggled to contain Pakistan's batsmen, except for Sikandar Raza who bowled economically. Raza gave away only 14 runs in four overs and took Salman's wicket. Wellington Masakadza also performed well, taking one wicket for 23 runs in three overs.

Zimbabwe began their chase with promise despite losing two early wickets during the powerplay. Tadiwanashe Marumani and captain Sikandar Raza formed a partnership of 59 runs for the third wicket. Marumani hit an aggressive 33 off just 20 balls before being run out, which led to a collapse.

Sikandar Raza tried to stabilise Zimbabwe's innings with his knock of 39 from 28 balls but found little support as wickets fell around him. Abrar Ahmed was instrumental in dismantling Zimbabwe's lower order, claiming three wickets including Trevor Gwandu who was stumped to conclude the match.

Sufiyan Muqeem also played a key role by taking crucial wickets during his disciplined spell. Haris Rauf supported well with two wickets, while Jahandad Khan contributed one dismissal as Zimbabwe crumbled from 77/3 to losing their last seven wickets for just 31 runs.

This victory gives Pakistan an early lead of 1-0 in the series. Despite some bright moments from Marumani and Raza, Zimbabwe's middle order failed against Pakistan's bowling attack, which proved decisive.

The teams are set to face each other again on Tuesday, December 3 for the second T20I match. Pakistan aims to continue their winning streak while Zimbabwe hopes to bounce back and level the series.
