Zimbabwe Stuns India in T20I

Gill scored 31 off 29 balls, while Washington Sundar added 27 off 34 balls. Avesh Khan was the only other player to reach double figures with his 16 off 12 balls. The rest of the batting lineup faltered.

Zimbabwe's bowlers shone brightly. Skipper Raza took three wickets for 25 runs in four overs, and Chatara claimed three wickets for just 16 runs in 3.5 overs. Other bowlers also contributed effectively.

The trouble began early for India when debutant Abhishek Sharma was out for a duck in the first over. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Riyan Parag, and Rinku Singh followed soon after, leaving India struggling at 22/4 within 4.4 overs.

Gill and debutant Dhruv Jurel tried to stabilize the innings but Jurel fell for six in the tenth over. Shortly after, Raza dismissed Gill, boosting Zimbabwe's chances of an upset win.

Late Resistance

Ravi Bishnoi showed some resilience but was eventually removed by Raza, leaving India at a precarious 61/7. Sundar and Avesh Khan kept hopes alive with a partnership of 23 runs before Raza struck again to dismiss Avesh for 16.

Sundar continued to fight till the final over but was eventually dismissed as Zimbabwe defended their total successfully. This marked the lowest total defended in T20Is at Harare.

Earlier Innings

Earlier in the match, Ravi Bishnoi took four wickets for just 13 runs and Washington Sundar claimed two wickets for 11 runs, restricting Zimbabwe to a total of 115/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan also took one wicket each.

The second T20I will be played on Sunday (July 7) at the same venue in Harare, giving Gill and his team a chance to bounce back quickly from this defeat.
