Yashasvi Jaiswal's Rigorous Preparation For The Perth Test Against Australia
Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul formed a formidable partnership for India in the first Test against Australia in Perth on Saturday, November 23. Jaiswal's impressive performance, scoring an unbeaten 90, has placed India in a strong position as they face the Aussie bowlers.
Jaiswal's success wasn't just due to his natural ability; it was also the result of dedicated training. He focused on handling short-pitched deliveries on Australia's bouncy pitches. After playing on spin-friendly Indian pitches during the New Zealand series, he trained at Thane Stadium near his home.

Under Zubin Bharucha's guidance, Rajasthan Royals' Director of Cricket, Jaiswal underwent rigorous training. Bharucha explained that they used a concrete slab at a 45-degree angle to mimic the skiddy bounce of Australian pitches. Lighter synthetic balls were used to challenge Jaiswal's reflexes and positioning.
Jaiswal practised nearly 200 overs of throw-downs over two days. This intense training was made possible through rapid-fire delivery sessions. Bharucha noted that the quick rotational speed allowed for this volume of practice within 2.5 hours, with short breaks.
Despite being dismissed for a duck in his first innings down under, Jaiswal made a remarkable comeback. His unbeaten 90 included seven fours and two sixes. These sixes helped him surpass Brendon McCullum's record for most sixes in Tests in a calendar year.
Bharucha praised Jaiswal's adaptability and meticulous training approach for specific challenges. "This is what sets him apart," Bharucha concluded, highlighting Jaiswal's dedication to overcoming obstacles.
Strong Partnership with KL Rahul
KL Rahul also played a crucial role alongside Jaiswal, remaining unbeaten on 62 runs. Together, they led India to 172 without losing any wickets in their second innings. As the third day approaches, India holds a significant lead of 218 runs on Perth's challenging pitch.
The duo's performance has been instrumental in India's commanding position against Australia. Their partnership showcases their skill and determination to excel in challenging conditions.
