Yashasvi Jaiswal's Remarkable Century In Perth Validates Mentor Jwala Singh's Confidence

Jwala Singh, the mentor of Indian cricket talent Yashasvi Jaiswal, expressed immense pride as Jaiswal scored a century against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. This achievement was even more impressive as it followed a first-innings duck and was sealed with a six.

Singh's confidence in Jaiswal never wavered, even after the initial setback. "When he was out for zero in the first innings, some people expressed concern, but I told them to keep watching - this boy has gone there to score 200, not 100," Singh shared with OneIndia Bengali.

Jwala Singh Praises Yashasvi Jaiswal's Century

Years of mentorship have given Singh insight into Jaiswal's technical skills, especially his back-foot play and decision-making. These qualities were crucial as both Australian and Indian media questioned Jaiswal's readiness for the tour.

"He is a very good player on the back foot, can execute pulls and cuts effectively, and knows precisely which balls to attack and which to leave," Singh explained. His understanding of Jaiswal's game allowed him to remain confident despite external doubts.

Singh highlighted Jaiswal's "bounce-back ability" as a key trait they focused on during training. "I always told him that to play long-term for the Indian team, you must work on your comeback ability," Singh added. This resilience sets Jaiswal apart from many players who struggle with consistency.

Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar also praised Jaiswal's century in Australia, recognising its significance. Singh noted that Jaiswal's consistent run-scoring helps him handle pressure better than others who falter after initial success.

Future Prospects for Yashasvi Jaiswal

As Jaiswal continues his innings, Singh remains hopeful about his potential to convert this hundred into a double century. He believes that the most challenging phase is now over for his protege.

The young cricketer scored an impressive 161 runs, leaving the cricket world in awe. At just 22 years old, his performance in Perth has not only showcased his talent but also confirmed his temperament under pressure.
