World Test Championship Standings Update: India Falls To Third As Australia Takes Top Spot Following Adelaide Test

Australia's victory over India in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Adelaide Oval significantly altered the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 standings. This win on December 8 propelled Australia to the top, affecting India's position in the rankings.

Pat Cummins' Australian team rebounded from their Perth defeat to secure a 10-wicket win against Rohit Sharma's India. This result tied the five-match series, which is crucial for the WTC Final scheduled at Lord's next year.

India Drops to Third in WTC Standings

India, after being dismissed for 175 in their second innings, set a modest target of 19 runs for Australia. The hosts achieved this in just 3.2 overs, concluding the match within three days and under seven sessions.

This loss dropped India to third place in the WTC standings. Under Rohit's leadership, India has now faced four consecutive defeats, resulting in a win percentage of 57.29% from nine wins, one draw, and six losses across 16 matches.

Conversely, Australia's triumph elevated them from third to first place in the WTC standings. They now hold a point percentage of 60.71%, with nine wins, one draw, and four losses out of 14 matches.
