Champions Trophy 2025: Rohit, Kohli, And Jadeja's Inclusion Discussed By Jay Shah
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja have announced their retirement from T20 Internationals after India's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday (June 29) in Barbados.
Following their retirement announcements, questions have arisen about their future in white-ball cricket, especially with the next ODI World Cup three years away. The 2027 ODI World Cup might be too distant for the ageing trio, but they have a strong chance to play in next year's Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

While Rohit and Kohli declared that the T20 World Cup 2024 final was their last match in this format for India, Jadeja made his announcement via social media on Sunday (June 30). Despite retiring from T20Is, they have not ended their ODI and Test careers.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has provided an update on their potential involvement in the Champions Trophy. Speaking to select media in Bridgetown, Shah praised the senior players' contributions to India's T20 World Cup win and hinted at their inclusion in future ICC events.
"Transition has already happened with three greats retiring," Shah said when asked about the team's next phase. He also mentioned that Team India aims to win the World Test Championship final and Champions Trophy next. "The way this team is progressing, our target is to win the World Test Championship final and Champions Trophy. There will be a similar squad playing there. The seniors will be there," he added.
Based on Shah's comments, it appears that if fitness permits, senior players like Rohit, Jadeja, and Kohli will likely be available for India's nine ODI matches before the Champions Trophy scheduled for February-March in Pakistan.
India's ODI schedule before the tournament includes three matches each against Sri Lanka (away), New Zealand (home), and England (home). If these players are part of these series, they are expected to be included in India's squad for the Champions Trophy 2025.
