Unbeaten West Indies and Afghanistan will look to carry winning momentum when the two Group C teams clash in match 40 of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia on Monday (June 17).
Rovman Powell-led West Indies head into the match on the back of a 13-run Super 8 spot sealing win over New Zealand, while Rashid Khan's Afghanistan are fresh from a 7-wicket win over Papua New Guinea.
Afghanistan and West Indies are set to fight for the top spot in Group C although their positions in the Super 8 group have already been decided via the pre-tournament seedings by ICC.
Both Afghanistan and West Indies have beaten New Zealand, Uganda and Papua New Guinea so far. The two teams will now collide in a key match which could see one team taking the momentum into the Super 8, where they will be in different groups.
This is Afghanistan's seventh appearance in the show-piece tournament and the Asian side have reached the Super 8 stage for the first time, while it's two-time champions West Indies' ninth appearance since the T20 World Cup's inception in 2007.
