Washington Freedom Triumphs In MLC 2024 Final Against San Francisco Unicorns

Steve Smith led Washington Freedom to a Major League Cricket title with a commanding 96-run win over San Francisco Unicorns in the MLC 2024 Final on Sunday, July 28, at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Smith's impressive 88 off 52 balls helped Washington Freedom post a formidable 207/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Marco Jansen and Rachin Ravindra then took three wickets each, restricting the San Francisco Unicorns to just 111 runs in 16 overs.

For the Unicorns, Carmi le Roux's unbeaten 20 off 19 balls was their highest score. Top run-scorers Finn Allen and Hassan Khan managed only 13 runs each. Pat Cummins was the standout bowler for the Unicorns, taking two wickets for 35 runs.

Washington Freedom's bowlers were exceptional. Jansen (3 for 28) and Ravindra (3 for 23) led the attack. Saurabh Netravalkar (1 for 33), Andrew Tye (2 for 12), and Glenn Maxwell (1 for 14) also contributed with crucial wickets.
