Virat Kohli Sends Stern Warning To Rivals Ahead Of T20 World Cup Super 8

After a challenging group stage in the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli is determined to regain his form for India in the Super 8 round. Despite scoring just five runs (1, 4, 0) in the group stage, Kohli's recent performance as the leading run-scorer in IPL 2024 suggests he has the potential to bounce back.

India topped Group A and now faces Australia, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh in Super 8 Group 1. The top two teams from each Super 8 group will advance to the semi-finals. Any misstep in this stage could be costly for India, making Kohli's performance crucial.

The 35-year-old Kohli, possibly playing his last T20 World Cup, left no stone unturned during Team India's first net session in Barbados. India is set to face Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match on Wednesday (June 19).

Kohli batted for an extended period, facing bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Axar Patel. He also practised against local spinners from Barbados. His intense practice session included a celebratory roar after hitting Bumrah for a six, a rare feat given Bumrah's record of conceding only 33 sixes in his 65-match T20I career.

During the net session, Kohli engaged in a lengthy discussion with captain Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Hardik Pandya. The trio was likely strategising for upcoming matches against Afghanistan (June 19), Bangladesh (June 22), and Australia (June 24).

The conditions in the West Indies are expected to favour India and Kohli. The hot and humid climate of the Caribbean islands is similar to what the team experienced during IPL 2024 matches before heading to the T20 World Cup.
