Virat Kohli Presented With Prestigious ICC Awards Before T20 World Cup Opener Against Ireland

Virat Kohli was honoured with multiple awards by the ICC ahead of India's T20 World Cup 2024 opener against Ireland.

Team India aims to demonstrate their prowess in the T20 World Cup hosted in the West Indies and USA. Following the disappointment of the World Cup 2023, the responsibility lies with the players to secure an ICC trophy.

Virat Kohli will be a crucial member of the India squad. The batter has been in exceptional form recently. He had an outstanding IPL 2024 season with RCB, scoring 741 runs and winning the Orange Cap. As Kohli prepares for the Ireland match, he was presented with two ICC awards.

Kohli received the ICC ODI Player of the Year 2023 Trophy and the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2023 cap. The ICC released pictures of Kohli posing with his new accolades.

The 35-year-old excelled in the 50-over format last year, scoring 1377 runs in just 24 innings, with an average exceeding 72. Kohli scored six centuries and eight fifties last year, including a historic ton against New Zealand in the World Cup semifinal, placing him at the top for most ODI centuries in history.

Team India's Preparations

Kohli joined the Indian team later than others and did not participate in the warm-up match against Bangladesh. The men in Blue easily defeated the Tigers and aim to replicate this performance against Ireland on Wednesday.

India is placed in Group A along with Ireland, USA, Canada, and arch-rivals Pakistan.
