Analyzing Virat Kohli's Stellar Record Against Pakistan In T20 World Cups

Virat Kohli will once again take centre stage as India and Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2024 Match 19 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Sunday, June 9.

The master batter played one of the most iconic innings in T20 World Cup history when the two teams met at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the eighth edition of the T20 World Cup in 2022.

Kohli's T20 World Cup Feats vs Pakistan

India were four down for 31 while chasing 160, and at one stage needed 28 off eight balls to win the match when Virat Kohli hit back-to-back sixes off Haris Rauf on the final two balls of the 19th over. India then chased down 16 in the last over with Virat Kohli staying unbeaten on 74 off 50.

Kohli has consistently brought his best against Pakistan. He has played 10 T20I matches against Pakistan and scored 488 runs at an average of 81.33 and a strike rate of 123.85. He has five T20I fifties to his name against Pakistan.

No other batter from India has scored over 200 T20I runs for India against Pakistan. Kohli's scores against Pakistan in his last five T20I innings are - 82*, 60, 35, 57, and 55*.

Quite naturally, Virat Kohli is the number one threat for Pakistan. The Men in Green would be aiming to hunt him down early in the innings. In his first outing of the T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli was dismissed for one against Ireland.

The 35-year-old, who has walked into the tournament on the back of a 700-plus season in the IPL 2024, is opening in the T20 World Cup 2024. While Pakistan would like to pick his wicket early, Kohli would look to bat till the end and help India post a competitive total on the tricky New York pitch.

In the T20 World Cups, Virat Kohli has a whopping average of 308. He has scored 308 runs in five matches and also picked a wicket. Pakistan have managed to dismiss Kohli only once in the T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli would once again look to dominate against one of his favourite opponents. Pakistan are already under a lot of pressure after losing their T20 World Cup 2024 opener against the USA on Thursday, June 6. Another defeat will make it really difficult for them to qualify for the Super Eight round.
