Virat Kohli Receives Hero's Welcome In India After T20 World Cup Triumph

Virat Kohli and the Indian cricket team arrived with the T20 World Cup trophy on Thursday, greeted by thousands of fans. The crowd cheered as they boarded the bus to ITC Maurya Hotel in Delhi. At the hotel, Kohli's brother Vikas and sister Bhawna were present to support him.

The team faced a delay in Barbados for four days due to Hurricane Beryl after winning the title. Once the airport reopened, BCCI arranged a special Air India flight to bring them and the trophy back home. The star batter was among the first to board the team bus upon arrival in India.

Kohli top-scored for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. With India at 34/3, he led a comeback with a match-winning 76 off 59 balls. His innings helped India post the highest-ever total in a T20 World Cup final.

After securing his maiden T20 World Cup trophy, Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20I cricket. However, he will continue playing in ODI and Test formats.

The team will rest at their hotel after their 16-hour journey before heading to Mumbai. An open bus victory parade is scheduled from 5:00 PM. A small ceremony will also be held at Wankhede Stadium where BCCI secretary Jay Shah will present the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy again to Rohit Sharma and his team.

The Indian cricket team's return was marked by significant celebrations and fanfare. This victory not only added another feather to India's cap but also marked an emotional milestone for Virat Kohli as he transitions from T20I cricket while continuing his journey in other formats.
