Vinod Kambli's Health Challenges: Insights From Friends And Support From Cricket Icons

Vinod Kambli, once a renowned Indian cricketer and childhood friend of Sachin Tendulkar, is currently grappling with serious health issues. This situation has left fans deeply worried about his well-being.

A recent event commemorating their late coach Ramakant Achrekar showed Kambli struggling to stand and walk, relying on Tendulkar for support. These images have raised significant concerns about his health among the public.

Vinod Kambli's Ongoing Health Struggles

Kambli's health has been declining for over ten years. In 2013, he experienced a severe heart attack due to blocked arteries, necessitating angioplasty. He also battles depression, worsened by accusations of alcohol dependency. Despite numerous hospital visits and treatments, his condition remains unstable.

Earlier this year, another troubling video of Kambli having difficulty walking surfaced online. Marcus Couto, a close friend and former umpire, visited him at his Bandra home after the incident. Couto shared with Times of India that Kambli has undergone rehabilitation 14 times but continues to face multiple health challenges. "There's no point taking him to rehab anymore," Couto expressed, highlighting repeated unsuccessful attempts at various facilities.

Support from cricket legends like Kapil Dev and Balwinder Singh Sandhu has been offered to aid Kambli's recovery. They have promised financial help for his rehabilitation but stress that success depends on Kambli's willingness to engage in treatment. Kapil Dev remarked, "If he chooses to go to rehab, we are ready to foot the bill, regardless of how long it takes."

Kambli's current struggles starkly contrast with his early cricketing potential. Alongside Tendulkar, he set a world-record 664-run partnership in a school match. However, while Tendulkar achieved great success, Kambli's career was hindered by disciplinary issues and personal challenges.

As Kambli faces these difficulties, fans and friends remain hopeful for his recovery. His situation highlights the importance of comprehensive support systems for athletes transitioning from their sports careers. With proper care and dedication, many hope Kambli can overcome these obstacles and achieve stability in the future.
