Vinay Kumar Defends His Achievements After Sanjay Manjrekar's Disrespectful Remarks During Perth Test
Vinay Kumar, a former Indian fast bowler, has responded to Sanjay Manjrekar's remarks made during the India-Australia Test in Perth. Manjrekar commented on the role of medium pacers, suggesting that bowlers like Vinay Kumar benefited from grassy pitches by bowling at 120 kmph. This comment did not sit well with Vinay.
Manjrekar's commentary focused on the evolution of fast bowling in India and how domestic pitches were prepared. He mentioned that medium pacers like Vinay Kumar topped wicket charts due to pitch conditions. "But I think that's gone," Manjrekar said, implying changes in pitch preparation.

Vinay Kumar took to social media to address Manjrekar's comments. He suggested that Manjrekar should check his speed gun and expressed pride in his achievements. "Sanjay bhai with due respect, your speed gun requires urgent servicing. 120KMPH, seriously?" Vinay posted on X.
He further highlighted his accomplishments, stating he was the first Indian fast bowler to take 100 IPL wickets and represented India in all formats. "I take pride in my bowling," he added, expressing satisfaction with his career.
Vinay Kumar played one Test, 31 ODIs, and nine T20Is for India, taking 48 wickets overall. In domestic cricket, he claimed 504 wickets in 139 first-class matches and holds the fourth-highest wicket tally in Ranji Trophy history with 442 wickets.
In the IPL, Vinay played for teams like Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders, among others. He took 105 wickets across 105 matches during his IPL career.
Controversial Comments
Sanjay Manjrekar is no stranger to controversy. Previously, he called Ravindra Jadeja a "bits part cricketer," questioning his all-round skills. His comments often spark reactions from players and fans alike.
Mohammed Shami also mocked Manjrekar for predicting a low price for him in an upcoming IPL auction. Shami humorously advised Manjrekar to save some wisdom for himself: "Baba Ki Jay Hooooo... Please save some wisdom for the future as well Sanjay G."
The exchange between Vinay Kumar and Sanjay Manjrekar highlights ongoing debates about player evaluations and commentary styles in cricket. Such discussions often bring attention to different perspectives within the sport.
