Uganda's Cricket Team Marks Historic Victory In T20 World Cup Against PNG
Uganda's cricket team achieved a significant milestone on Thursday by securing their first-ever win in T20 World Cup history. They triumphed over Papua New Guinea (PNG) by three wickets, successfully chasing a 78-run target with ten balls to spare.
In the Group C match at Providence Stadium in Guyana, Uganda elected to bowl first and dominated PNG. They bowled out PNG for 77 runs in 19.1 overs, thanks to an impressive bowling performance.

Alpesh Ramjani, Cosmas Kyewuta, Juma Miyagi, and Frank Nsubuga each took two wickets. Only three PNG batters managed to score in double digits. Uganda's captain, Brian Masaba, also contributed by bowling four overs for 17 runs and taking a wicket.
Uganda's reply saw them lose four wickets during the powerplay and were five down for 26 runs in 6.3 overs. However, a crucial 34-run partnership between Riazat Ali Shah and Juma Miyagi (13) steadied the innings.
Shah was dismissed for 33 off 56 balls with Uganda needing just three runs from 13 balls. Kenneth Waiswa then swept a delivery fine and ran a double on the second ball of the 19th over to secure Uganda's historic win in an ICC event.
Group Standings
With this victory, Uganda moved to the third spot in Group C. PNG, having lost both their opening games, are at the bottom of the five-team table, which also includes New Zealand, Afghanistan, and West Indies.
Celebrations
Uganda's players celebrated their hard-fought win jubilantly. They formed a huddle and danced, with pictures and videos of their celebration going viral on social media.
