Tilak Varma Scores Century And Achieves Top Spot For India In T20I Rankings
Tilak Varma delivered an outstanding performance in the 4th T20I against South Africa on Friday, November 15. He scored an unbeaten 120 runs from just 47 balls. This helped India achieve a massive total of 283 runs in Johannesburg, marking their second-highest T20I score and the highest outside India.
Varma's impressive innings was complemented by Sanju Samson, who also reached a century. This marked Samson's third hundred in his last five T20I innings. Together, they built a formidable 210-run partnership for the second wicket. They became the first pair from full member nations to score centuries in the same T20I innings.

The match saw India setting records beyond individual performances. The team recorded the most sixes in one innings between two full-member nations. Tilak Varma's remarkable knock at the Wanderers has now placed him at the top of a prestigious list.
Tilak Varma is currently the only Indian batter with a T20I average exceeding 50. His consecutive unbeaten innings have significantly contributed to this milestone, with his current average standing at 51.33 in T20Is.
The young southpaw also surpassed 500 T20I runs for India during this match, bringing his total to 616 runs in the format. In 20 matches, he has hit two centuries and two fifties, along with 50 fours and 36 sixes.
India stalwart Virat Kohli, who retired from T20Is in June, holds the second-highest average at 48.69. Among active players, Rinku Singh follows with an average of 46.09.
Tilak Varma's achievement of scoring consecutive centuries places him alongside Sanju Samson as only the second Indian player to do so in T20Is. Tilak had previously scored an impressive 107 in Centurion and continued his form with another explosive performance.
Apart from showcasing his batting prowess through these centuries, Tilak has now established himself as a key player for India in T20Is.
