T20 World Cup 2024: Team India Evaluates Training Venue In New York Amid Concerns

India coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma have expressed dissatisfaction with the facilities provided to Team India in the USA ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Team India is currently in New York for their T20 World Cup campaign, and the facilities have raised significant concerns. Reports indicate that both Dravid and Sharma are surprised and unhappy with the training facilities, pitch, and other infrastructure in New York. The team is practising at Cantiague Park, where they will also participate in a solitary warm-up match against Bangladesh on June 1.

Team India's Venue Concerns in NY

The facilities at Cantiague Park are reportedly substandard and could potentially lead to injuries for players. Given that Team India is already managing injury-prone players, any new setbacks would be detrimental. "Everything is makeshift - from pitches to other facilities. Safe to say everything is very average in nature. The team has raised their concerns," a source told Cricket Next.

India's first match of the T20 World Cup is against Ireland on June 5, followed by a high-profile clash against Pakistan on June 9. Three of India's four group stage matches will be played in New York, necessitating their training at Cantiague Park for most days.

Regarding a change in the venue, reports suggest there is no possibility for India to shift their training location at this time. Consequently, the team will need to exercise extra caution to avoid injuries. The Men in Blue have already conducted a couple of practice sessions, with players like Rishabh Pant, captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav participating.

In a positive development for India, Hardik Pandya reportedly batted for an hour and bowled for around forty minutes during Thursday's practice session. Virat Kohli did not travel to the USA with the first batch but has left India and is expected to join the team on Friday.
