Inside Team India's Flight From Barbados To Delhi: Dravid's Economy Seat Nap, Sharma's Light-Hearted Scolding

After their exhilarating T20 World Cup triumph, the Indian cricket team's return home faced an unexpected delay due to severe weather conditions.

The team found themselves stranded in Barbados for a few extra days as a dangerous hurricane approached the Caribbean island. The closure of Barbados' airport caused a significant delay in their journey from Barbados to Delhi.

Team India's Unique Flight Home

Eventually, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stepped in to arrange a special flight. A chartered plane transported the entire Indian team, their families, and media personnel to New Delhi. Upon landing, Rohit Sharma and his victorious squad continued their celebrations across various cities.

Details about the flight have recently surfaced. A source from the production team disclosed that none of the players managed more than six hours of sleep. The source also mentioned that India head coach Rahul Dravid ended up sleeping in economy class seats.

"On this flight, Barbados to Delhi, I think hardly anyone slept for more than six hours. That would have been the maximum. At no point was anyone quiet. Everyone was mingling around. Players came to meet the members of the press and few others. Star Sports engineers were also part of the flight because theirs was cancelled and they were also accommodated. But there was a lot of interaction. Rohit Sharma came several times. I believe at one moment, Rahul Dravid came up to the economy section to figure out if there was a 4-seater because he wanted to sleep. He came there from the business class and slept there for some time," a producer was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Rohit Sharma's true character shone through during the flight as well. The India captain was heard scolding someone jokingly, showcasing his playful side. The entire team celebrated onboard and shared their thoughts with media personnel present on the flight.

Celebrations Onboard

"I remember I was sleeping and I could suddenly hear Rohit scolding somebody. I saw and he was standing right there. But Rohit, in his style was scolding jokingly. After that, Hardik came, Rishabh came and they were all having discussions with the media. So obviously, there was a lot of chatter," he added.

This momentous occasion was indeed magical for both the nation and the Indian cricket team. Interestingly, this flight became one of the most tracked flights in history.

Since then, Rahul Dravid has stepped down from his role as India's head coach while Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from T20 cricket.
