Bangladesh's Taskin Ahmed Sidelined For India Match In T20 World Cup Due To Oversleeping

In their match against India, Bangladesh had to make a sudden change. Taskin Ahmed was replaced by Jaker Ali. Initially, it seemed like a strategic or injury-related decision. However, recent reports have shed light on a surprising reason behind Taskin's exclusion.

A BCB official disclosed that Taskin Ahmed, who serves as the vice-captain of the team, missed the India match because he overslept. The 29-year-old pacer failed to wake up on time and missed the team bus.

The match against India started at 10:30 am local time, requiring teams to be present by 9 am. On that day, Taskin overslept and couldn't join his teammates on time.

"It is true that he (Taskin) joined the team later after missing the team bus," confirmed the official to Cricbuzz.

This incident significantly impacted Bangladesh's performance as they lost by 50 runs, severely damaging their chances of reaching the semifinals.

Taskin's Apology and Team Dynamics

The BCB official also mentioned that Taskin apologised to his teammates for his tardiness and assured there was no conflict with the coach.

"He apologised to his teammates and everyone for not being able to get up on time and that's it and no need to make an issue out of it," added the official.

This incident highlights how off-field issues can unexpectedly affect team dynamics and performance in crucial matches.
