West Indies' Road In T20 World Cup 2024: Super 8 Stage Schedule Revealed

Two-time champions West Indies have secured a spot in the Super Eight stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the Caribbean. They qualified as the second team from Group C, winning three matches with one left to play in the group stage.

West Indies, who confirmed their Super 8 spot after a victory over New Zealand, remain undefeated in the first round. However, they will face their biggest test against Group C toppers Afghanistan in their final group match.

Rovman Powell's team has not been at its best so far, finishing a chase of 137 against Papua New Guinea in the penultimate over. This was followed by a dominant win over Uganda and another narrow escape versus New Zealand to secure their Super 8 spot.

In their final game, the Men in Maroon will face an in-form Afghanistan. Despite this, West Indies have already confirmed their place in Group 2 of the T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8.

From Group A, T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosts USA qualified for Super 8 Group 2 alongside England from Group B, fellow tournament co-hosts West Indies from Group C, and South Africa from Group D.

The Super 8 matches will be held across four venues in the Caribbean: Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (North Sound, Antigua and Barbuda), Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium (Gros Islet, St Lucia), Kensington Oval (Bridgetown, Barbados), and Arnos Vale Ground (Kingstown, St. Vincent).

Each team will play three matches in the Super 8 stage, with the group winner and runner-up progressing to the next round. The matches will take place from June 19 to June 24. Here is a look at when and who Powell & Co will face in the Super Eight stage:

• June 20, Thursday: West Indies vs England - Gros Islet, St Lucia - 6 AM IST
• June 22, Saturday: USA vs West Indies - Bridgetown, Barbados - 6 AM IST
• June 24, Monday: West Indies vs South Africa - North Sound, Antigua - 6 AM IST

The top teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the semi-finals on June 27. India, Australia, and Afghanistan are part of Group 1 in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. Netherlands and Bangladesh are competing for the fourth and final berth in Group 1.
