T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8: Qualified Teams, Match Schedule Unveiled

The T20 World Cup 2024 is nearing its climax as twelve teams will head home, while eight teams will progress to the Super 8 from the first-round group stage, which concludes on June 17.

With 20 teams competing for the first time, the tournament in the USA and the Caribbean is the largest in terms of participating nations. The teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each for the first round.

The winners and runners-up from each group following the single round-robin matches will move into the Super 8, which is further divided into two groups of four teams each.

In Super 8, the group winners from A and C will join runners-up from B and D in Group 1. Similarly, runners-up from A and C will join winners from B and D in Group 2. Here is how the Super 8 groups will look:

While the teams are yet to finalize their positions, some teams have confirmed their berths in the Super 8. Here is a look at the teams that have qualified for the next round:

As of June 12, South Africa and Australia have confirmed their spots in the Super 8 from Group D and B respectively. But both teams' final positions in their respective groups will only be known after the remaining matches.

From Group A, India and USA currently occupy the top two spots with Pakistan in third. However, the two spots from the group are yet to be decided. The India vs USA match on June 12 could see one team seal their spot.

From Group B, Scotland currently occupy second spot with five points, while defending champions England could also match them with wins in their remaining two matches. However, if Scotland win their one remaining match, they will join Australia in the Super 8.

From Group C, Afghanistan and West Indies are well-poised to progress, while South Africa became the first team to qualify from Group D and could be joined by any of the other four teams in the next round.

The Super 8 matches will start on June 19 and conclude on June 24. A total of twelve matches will be played across four venues in the Caribbean.
