South Africa's Road In T20 World Cup 2024: Super 8 Stage Schedule

South Africa has secured a spot in the Super Eight stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, held in the USA and the Caribbean. The Proteas emerged as the first team from Group D to qualify, maintaining an unbeaten record by winning all four of their group stage matches.

Despite their undefeated status, South Africa's performance has been less than convincing. They narrowly won each of their four matches, scraping past their opponents. Their qualification was confirmed as other teams in Group D faltered.

Aiden Markram's squad clinched their Super 8 position with a 4-run victory over Bangladesh in their third match. In their opener, they bowled out Sri Lanka for 77 but struggled to chase the target on a challenging New York pitch.

The match against the Netherlands was also tough, requiring David Miller's resilient innings to chase down a modest 104 at the same New York venue. They also defeated Bangladesh at this location.

Their final group game against Nepal was a nail-biter, with South Africa securing a 1-run win while defending a total of 115. However, they had already confirmed their place in Group 2 of the Super 8 before this close encounter.

In Super 8 Group 2, South Africa will face co-hosts USA from Group A, England from Group B, and fellow co-hosts West Indies from Group C.

The Super 8 matches will be held across four Caribbean venues: Sir Vivian Richards Stadium (North Sound, Antigua and Barbuda), Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium (Gros Islet, St Lucia), Kensington Oval (Bridgetown, Barbados), and Arnos Vale Ground (Kingstown, St. Vincent).

Each team will play three matches in this stage, with the group winner and runner-up advancing to the next round. The matches are scheduled from June 19 to June 24. Below is South Africa's Super 8 schedule:

• June 19, Wednesday: South Africa vs USA - North Sound, Antigua - 8 PM IST
• June 21, Friday: England vs South Africa - Gros Islet, St Lucia - 8 PM IST
• June 24, Monday: West Indies vs South Africa - North Sound, Antigua - 6 AM IST

The top teams from each of the two groups will qualify for the semi-finals on June 27. India, Australia, and Afghanistan are part of Group 1 in the Super 8 stage. Netherlands and Bangladesh are vying for the final spot in Group 1.
